Are You Selling Ice to an Eskimo?
After getting started in my network marketing company, I was taught and trained (probably like most of you) on the thought that everyone breathing was my prospect.
So that’s what I went after.
If you were breathing and on my Facebook friends list, you were a prospect and getting my info!
I had success in the beginning, but then everything started going south.
I heard the word “NO” (or heard nothing at all) more times than you should say to a 2-year old!
But…”No means not right now.”
Ever heard that before? 😉
So I kept going.
Until I got tired of hearing this word (or nothing at all!) and thought…
“there HAS to be a better way!”
That’s when I heard this concept from one of my mentors…
When you try to prospect everyone, you may be trying to sell “ice to an Eskimo”.
I talked about it here in this video…
Makes total sense!
Think about it…
what if my (or your) friend is OK with how they look and feel and don’t want to try the latest lotions/potions/pills or earn extra money doing network marketing?
Don’t try to beat a dead horse and make it happen.
If you have to drag them in it, you’ll drag them through it!
And trust me…It’s NO fun!
You’ll waste your time and money focusing on them and trying to help them, that you will miss out on the ones who will really work for you.
You want to qualify the people you are talking to.
Make them prove to you that they are worthy of joining your team.
Now, not everyone will agree with me on this, and that’s OK.
But if you want to grow your business and team, you have to have individuals who are going to take action…
and not just product users.
So how do I qualify them??
I ask them questions!!
- What kind of income are you looking to generate in the next 12 months?
- Do you have any capital to set aside to start your business?
- How serious are you about building a home business? Tell me why.
- Do you feel like you are a team player, positive, self-motivated, and dependable?
The answers to these questions tell me if someone if pretty serious, or just a tire kicker wanting just to see if this thing really works or just get a discount on the products.
To build a prosperous business, you want to have employees (or in our case a downline) that will work it!
So ask yourself if it’s worth having people on your team just to have them there…
or do you want to find those who are absolutely serious about creating something and working your opportunity.
Do you need help finding prospects on social media?
If you are just starting out in network marketing, or maybe you are just starting to put time into social media…
There’s a tool to help out other network marketers who need a kick start to their social media efforts.
It’s called the Social Media Recruiting Frenzy, and it’s 100% free.
It includes word-for-word scripts, example posts, plus some “dos and don’ts” around Facebook, so you can instantly be more effective with your sponsoring and recruiting online.
…all without being “spammy,” without pouncing on people, and without running an infomercial on your page.
You’ll discover the exact method my friend Julie Burke used to personally sponsor 270+ reps and grow a team of 8,300 distributors, all from the comfort of her home, in just 3 years.
These strategies create such explosive duplication, that for every person she personally sponsored, her team would grow by an average of 30 people in depth each time.
